A recap of the weekend can be summed up in a single word "Wet". 50 degree highs on Saturday resulted in a considerable amount of surface melt. Combined with the usual track ruts, we had 3-6 inches of standing water in many corners by the end of Saturday.
Mike Rappa and Don Coatsworth won the endurance race that was shortened by a piece of ice breaking loose in a corner resulting in about a foot square hole in the racing line and much water elsewhere on the track.
Cars seemed to be having a problem with leaving the pits with 4 wheels and coming into the pits with only 3 leaving the tow and plow trucks to bring in the loose tires. Dave Kapaun lost tires twice, while the Nienows in the 85 car lost only one.
Paul Palzer won the Sprint race on Sunday, with Chris Wilke taking honors in the Solo race on Saturday.
Due to a broken camera, and a screwed up shipment by HP and Federal Express, I didn't have a camera this weekend. Pawel Stachowicz was kind enough to contribute some of the pictures he took, and Jerry Winker also said he'd contribute some.
Thanks also go to the 34/35 car team for contributing some of their pictures.
If anybody else would like to contribute some of their pictures, email jima@copper.net for a login and password to upload your own photos. This applies to pictures from any weekend.
The Bent Tow Hook Award is still up for grabs. Car 61 currently holds a slight lead over the 88 car (12 vs 11 assists), but the 22 car is right behind at 9. For those unfamiliar with the Bent Tow Hook Award, I keep track of all of the assists that I give each car (if I have to put you back on your wheels, it counts double). At the end of the year, the car with the mosts assists gets the Bent Tow Hook Award.
